THE GIFT SHOP
I installed The Gift Shop as part of our artists' Open Studios. Almost all of the artists in our shared studio space participated - putting in objects they had made, but which they didn't consider their artwork.
During the Open Studios, I hired someone to run the shop, and it was interesting to see the jovial dynamic between visitors and artists within the small space. The atmosphere stood in contrast to the often more cautious (and even anxious) interactions taking place in the surrounding studios, where price tags were not on display, but objects were also for sale.
